In 1997, The GELC lost the College Nationals Finals Rodeo as its major fundraiser.
It was replaced by the Festival of the Fourth fireworks display.
The Club sells buttons, through local businesses, for this event (one of the
largest in Montana) and provides the manpower for security and parking.
This event has also included food and drink concessions, activities for kids,
car shows and military displays. In 2002, plans are underway to move the
fireworks from the Fairgrounds to the Gallatin Valley Mall area and to do
the fireworks in conjunction with the Mall and High Country Venture
Marketing, who would take over responsibility for many of the activities
associated with the Festival of the Fourth.
